Thank. you Alexa and Madelyn!
High School East senior Alexa Lipp, and High School West senior, Madelyn Donaghy were recognized at last night’s Board of Education meeting for their work this year as the SCSD’s first ever non-voting, ex officio members of the board, due to their roles as student body presidents.
Board President Matt Gribbin presented the two with a new Board of Education legacy board, handcrafted by High School West technology teacher Brian Costello, which featured Alexa and Madelyn’s names as the inaugural student representatives.
“It has been such a great experience working with the board of education and learning so much about our school’s community!” Madelyn said. “I loved seeing the accomplishments of our students and recognizing them at meetings!”
Madelyn has been Student Council president since her freshman year. Alexa served as Student Council president for two years.
“Being part of the Smithtown Central School District’s Board of Education as one of the first ever Student Members has been both exciting and rewarding. This year was about more than making decisions, it was about building something meaningful that future students can continue.” Alexa told us.
Congratulations and good luck Alexa and Madelyn in your future endeavors.
