Bravo! Four High School East musicians shine

April 15, 2024

Four Smithtown High School East musicians were selected to participate and perform in this past weekend's Long Island String Chamber Festival (LISFA) at Islip Middle School. This is the first time students from Smithtown have been selected for this Festival since it started 13 years ago.

The Smithtown HS East String Quartet is composed of Sophomore Juliet Chong (violin 1), Senior Rishabh Dholakia (violin 2), Senior Jake Lomando (viola) and Senior Emily Lam (cello). They performed the String Quartet No 12 (The American Quartet) by Antonin Dvorak.

All four of these musicians are accomplished musicians of the Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Brian McCoy. They also are active members of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. Emily Lam and Jake Lomando were recently featured at the Smithtown HS East Annual Gala Concert as soloists on concertos.

These students had the opportunity to attend master classes throughout the day at this festival and work with the Bryant Park Chamber Players. LISFA hosts festivals throughout the year in Suffolk and Nassau counties. The organization brings together Long Island string teachers, students, parents and conductors to support and celebrate the joy of music.

Bravo!
