Congratulations to Emma Cawley, Ryan Rooney, Laura Luikart and Jack LaPrarie for being recognized as the Smithtown Booster Club Student Athletes of the Year!
The Smithtown Booster Club and Smithtown BOE honored the four student athletes at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting.
SCSD Athletic Director Jason Lambert told the board, "These student athletes represent the best of the best as to what our athletic programs can offer. These athletes have been recognized not only based on their individual prowess but also what they can bring into their programs to help their teams become successful."
Emma was a three-sport athlete at Smithtown East, starring in volleyball, winter track and spring track. She has been named Booster Club MVP multiple times and will attend Marist in the fall.
Ryan was a star for the High School East football and lacrosse teams, making First Team All Division in football, All League and All County in lacrosse and was named Booster Club MPV this past spring.
Ryan will play lacrosse at Sacred Heart University in the fall.
At High School West, Laura was a three-sport athlete, starring in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse. A Booster Club MPV, Laura has been named All Division, All League, and captain of the lacrosse team.
Laura will play lacrosse at the Division 2 reigning National Champions at Pace University.
Jack was one of the most dominant wide receivers in Suffolk County for both of his varsity seasons at High School West. He was also one of the top defensive backs and the county leader in interceptions this past fall. Jack was named Booster Club MVP for the fall and was voted All League, All County and 2nd Team Newsday All Long Island. He was also voted All League, All County and was selected as the booster club MVP for baseball. Jack will play football this fall at Stony Brook University.
