Over 100 students from both High School East and West were recently inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Tri-M recognizes our students outstanding achievements in music, community service and excellence in academics. Members of High School East Chapter #4958 and High School West Chapter #1338 were inducted as new members, continuing members as well as the special recognition of lifetime membership for graduating seniors.
The induction ceremony included two performances by musicians from each chapter. High School East musicians performed Isabella’s Lullaby by Takahiro Obata and the High School West musicians performed Frenetic Outlaws by Groove Nazar. Each induction ceremony includes the presentation of honorary lifetime membership to deserving recipients. This year's lifetime honorees were Valerie Kratochvil and Mr. Michael Nolan.
The ceremony culminated in two inspiring speeches by the presidents of each chapter, High School East President Carter Lam and High School West President Kevin Castellano. Following the induction ceremony all inductees and their families were treated to a reception sponsored by the Friends of Music of Smithtown and enjoyed a stellar performance by the famed High School West Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Frank Scheno.
We would like to thank the music faculty from each high school and our Director of Fine Arts Mrs. Victoria Hartman for their continued support of Tri-M. A very special thank you to all students and their families for attending this event and celebrating this momentous occasion as well as our Chapter Advisors Mr. Brian McCoy of High School East and Mr. Joseph Cotignola of High School West.
