St. James Elementary School parent and SCSD Board of Education member, Kevin Craine, visited Smithtown Elementary on Friday to share his experiences working with endangered sea turtles in Hawaii.
Mr. Craine worked with an organization that would help any sea turtles who were injured. They also watched the shoreline in Hawaii to make sure newly laid sea turtle eggs would be safe from predators. He brought in a real model size sea turtle, and photos from his experience to share with the students.
Mr. Craine’s presentation was the culmination of Earth Week education at SEL and all our schools.
