Congratulations to the Accompsett Middle School girls basketball team for winning the Smithtown Booster Club's Winter Scholar Athlete award!
The team, which is currently undefeated, had the highest GPA of any team at AMS, with a 4.11 average!
Coach Mike Toth lauded the team, saying, "they are an incredibly talented group that’s always looking to get better. They find a way to manage their busy schedules, playing multiple sports during the season and still maintaining excellence in the classroom.”
SCSD Superintendent Dr. Mark Secaur praised the team's accomplishment, as did SCSD Athletic Director Jason Lambert and Accompsett Middle School Principal Paul McNeil.
SCSD Assistant Superintendent Kevin Simmons, and AMS Assistant Principal Brian Dolan were also on hand to congratulate the students.
Smithtown Booster Club President Dave Miller than handed each student a shirt and certificate.
The team name will be added to the Accompsett Middle School Scholar Athlete plaque.
