Student Ambassadors Take the Lead
A group of dedicated high school students is stepping up to help strengthen civic engagement throughout the Smithtown Central School District!
Students in grades 9-12 were selected through an application process to serve as High School Seal of Civic Readiness Ambassadors. Working alongside Seal Program Coordinators June Tenor (HSE) and Joan Havranek (HSW) throughout the school year, these student leaders will help raise awareness of the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness Program and encourage their peers to get involved in meaningful civic opportunities.
The Student Ambassador Program empowers students to take an active role in promoting civic education, community service and responsible citizenship. Ambassadors will share information about the Seal Program, help recruit fellow students for civic engagement activities, assist with organizing events and initiatives, and provide feedback and ideas to program coordinators.
In addition to serving as advocates for the Seal, ambassadors will participate in Triple S after-school meetings and use their leadership skills to inspire greater student involvement in their school and community.
Through this initiative, students will play an important role in helping their peers explore opportunities to earn the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness while developing the knowledge, skills and commitment needed to become informed, responsible and engaged citizens.
Congratulations to our student ambassadors for taking the lead and making a difference in our school community!
