Step Into the Past with Mills Pond Fifth Graders

Fifth graders at Mills Pond Elementary became history detectives as they traveled through time to uncover the story of three remarkable civilizations—the Maya, Aztec and Inca!

Through a series of interactive learning stations, students read about each civilization, located them on maps and explored the unique characteristics that helped these societies thrive. They collaborated to identify similarities and differences and investigated factors that contributed to the rise of civilizations, including fertile soil and access to water.

This hands-on experience is just the beginning! Students will continue their journey by taking a deeper dive into each civilization while developing a greater understanding of what makes a civilization flourish
