Smithtown West FAST spreads holiday cheer

December 17, 2025

The Smithtown West FAST program is thrilled to host its annual holiday pop-up shops, spreading festive cheer throughout the district.

This year, FAST students were welcomed into 10 different district buildings, including the New York Avenue District Office, several elementary schools, and both middle schools, where they sold a variety of holiday items. Pre-orders were also taken for custom clothing, pillows, and decorative signs, helping to bring holiday spirit to the entire school community.

At each pop-up shop, students sold inventory they created themselves, including candles, pens, simmer kits, baker’s kits, crumb cakes, and family movie night packages. Even furry family members were included, with homemade dog treats created in partnership with Libra of Live.

FAST students were involved in every step of the process, from creating and wrapping gifts to operating the cash register and maintaining detailed inventory lists. These hands-on experiences helped students develop important money management, customer service, and workplace skills.

As always, thank you to Smithtown West FAST Program Work Study Coordinator Jillian Otero and Program Director Lisa Felice for leading this meaningful event. “The students work so hard and are incredibly proud of what they accomplish,” said Otero. “Thank you to everyone who supported us. Your support helps enhance the lives of our students, and we are truly grateful.”
