"Sixth graders, please rise!"

June 24, 2026

“Sixth graders, please rise.”

With those words, St. James Elementary Principal Adam Javidi brought Wednesday morning’s Moving Up Ceremony to a memorable close as the school celebrated its newest sixth graders. Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Assessment Paul Strader presented certificates to students as proud family members looked on and applauded their accomplishments.

Meanwhile, fifth graders at Mills Pond Elementary marked this important milestone during their own Moving Up Ceremony. Superintendent Dr. Mark Secaur congratulated students and encouraged them to embrace the opportunities ahead, sharing, “I am certain that the wonderful educators at Mills Pond have prepared you well for the challenges ahead. Take advantage of all the opportunities that exist, set goals, and strive to meet them.”
Principal Ireen Westrack praised students for their hard work, growth, and achievements throughout their elementary school years as they prepare for their next chapter.

Congratulations to the St. James and Mills Pond Class of 2033—next stop, Nesaquake and Great Hollow Middle Schools!
