Science on Shinnecock Bay
Students from the High School East Oceans classes recently set sail on a Research Vessel in Shinnecock Bay for an exciting day of hands-on marine science.
While out on the water, students tested temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, and turbidity levels to learn more about the health of the bay.
Students also got an up-close look at local marine life, identifying different crustaceans, mollusks, and fish pulled from the trawling nets. It was an incredible opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom and see real-world science in action!
