SCSD students thriving in summer ENL program

July 16, 2026

Our ENL Summer Program is off to a fantastic start, with students actively engaged in hands-on learning and collaborative activities!

High school students have been exploring the theme of camping by strengthening their map-reading skills, including interpreting map legends and keys, before putting their knowledge into practice by designing their own creative campsites.

Middle school students have immersed themselves in the excitement of the FIFA World Cup, learning about its history and origins before researching the countries that advanced to the semifinals and confidently presenting their findings to their classmates.

Our youngest learners in grades K–2 have been building their summer vocabulary while creating colorful summer bucket lists filled with activities they hope to enjoy during the season.

Meanwhile, students in grades 3–5 spent their first week getting to know one another through engaging “All About Me” posters and have since begun an exciting nonfiction unit on the water cycle.

Throughout the program, students are building language skills, developing confidence, and having fun through interactive, meaningful learning experiences.

Thank you to our teachers, Nancy Bernier (K-2), Kristen McErlean (3-5),

Katherine Neumair (6-8) and Delaney Foster (9-12) as well as SCSD Director of World Languages, ENL and Library Media Services, Vincenza Graham for this wonderful program.
