SCSD schools proudly joined in the national observance of Red Ribbon Week, held from October 23–31. During this annual campaign, students and staff across the country pledge to learn more about the harmful effects of drug abuse—including the misuse of prescription medications—and to reaffirm their commitment to living healthy, drug-free lives.
At Great Hollow Middle School, students 'tackled drugs' by wearing their favorite team/sports jerseys. It was great to see everyone's support for local and NY sports. There was a clear divide between Rangers and Islander fans! Meanwhile, at Accompsett Elementary, the halls were filled with bright colors and tropical spirit as students donned Hawaiian attire for their “Lei Off Drugs” theme day.
Throughout the week, schools across the district participated in a variety of themed activities and lessons that promote making positive choices, building self-respect, and supporting one another in leading healthy lifestyles. Red Ribbon Week continues to be a meaningful reminder of the power of education, community, and school spirit in helping students make safe and healthy decisions.
