Robotics Team Earns Third Place Finish

The Smithtown Robotics Team, FIRST Team 810, recently competed in the 2026 Kenneth R. Vessey Robotics Invitational at Half Hollow Hills High School West. The event brought together 21 FIRSTRobotics Competition teams from across Long Island for a day of competition, collaboration, and innovation.

Throughout the invitational, teams had the opportunity to put their robots to the test, evaluate new drive teams and pit crews, tackle new challenges, and learn from one another while celebrating the Long Island robotics community.

Team 810's robot, RumBull, performed exceptionally well throughout the competition, helping the team secure an impressive third-place finish and advance to the semifinals! The experience provided valuable opportunities for students to test their skills, strengthen their teamwork, and gain important lessons to carry into future competitions.

Team 810 is comprised of students from the CTE Technology Department at both High School East and High School West. The team is guided by advisors Dave Savage, Brian Sheridan, and Matthew Quigley, along with CTE Director Christine LoFrese.

Congratulations to Team 810 on an outstanding performance! We look forward to following their continued success throughout the season.
