Smithtown High School East athletes will now shine under the limelight since the athletic field lights have recently been installed and are operating. The new lighting will allow fall teams to practice and host evening home games for the first time.
Smithtown Central School District Director of Athletics, Jason Lambert, said he is currently in discussions with Section XI, other school districts and officials with hopes of scheduling night games for the school’s fall teams schedules.
The lighting addition is part of the Capital Reserve Proposition voters approved in 2024.
