Reading buddies at SEL!
PARP at Smithtown Elementary continued with guest readers, reading buddies, and dressing up as book characters and explorers. Students received “passports” from the PTA and earned stamps for different achievements in reading. Fifth grade members of SEL Cares also served as guest readers in classes and the PTA hosted a bookmark contest and other contests for reading achievements. Smithtown Schools Superintendent, Dr. Secaur, read to Mrs. Parendo and Ms. Appello’s fourth grade classes. Dr. Brenda Clark, SCSD Administrator for Special Education and Special Services, read to Mrs.Patrissi’s and Mrs. Clifford’s classes. Finally, Mr. Paul Strader, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Assessment, was a special guest in all kindergarten classes.
