Those were the words of SCSD Superintendent, Dr. Mark Secaur, as he addressed the district’s 2025 Torch Award recipients Monday afternoon.
The Torch Award is presented to Smithtown teachers who have significantly contributed to the growth and professional development of their teacher colleagues.
The teachers gathered at St. James Elementary School for an awards presentation led by St. James Elementary teacher, Jennifer Goldman.
The 2025 Torch Award recipients are:
Sean Tomasello (High School West), Frances Cannella (Tackan Elementary), Kelly Collett (St. James Elementary), Ari Sillam (Great Hollow Middle School), Mary Goldberg (High School East), Christina O’Malley (Great Hollow and Nesaquake Middle Schools), Michael J. Nolan (High School West), Jennifer Goldman (St. James Elementary), Kimberly Muffly (St. James Elementary) and Janet Greenfield (St. James Elementary)
