Gold Cord students take the stage at High School East ceremony
Smithtown High School East honored 100 seniors on Wednesday for the annual Gold Cord ceremony. Gold Cord is awarded to seniors who have maintained an outstanding cumulative 4.0 GPA for four consecutive years. Students who reach an even higher academic mileston, achieving a 4.4. GPA or higher are speficially recognized as earning a "Gold Cord with Distinction."
Principal Paul McNeil, Assistant Principal Peter Russo and SCSD Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Simmons addressed the students and their families, lauding the hard work and dedication it took to accomplish this impressive achievement. Dr. Simmons presented the gold cords, which the students will wear at graduation. Additionally, Assistant Superintendent, Paul Strader, handed each student a plaque.
