Last night many of our fall season sports champions were honored at the SCSD Board of Education meeting.
In front of VERY proud family and community members, the following teams were recognized:
West Girls Soccer: Co League Champions; Class AA Suffolk County Champions; Long Island Class AA Champions; NYS Southeast Regional Champions; NYS Class AA Finalist. First team in school history to reach the NYS Final!
West Boys Soccer: Unbeaten Suffolk County Class AA League 5 Champions; Class AA Suffolk County Champions; Long Island Class AA Champions; First HSW team to reach the State Final 4!
Gymnastics: Bayla Goldberg NYS Qualifier in the All-Around.
Amanda Burns - NYS Alternate Qualifier in Vault and Beam
Both are part of two County Championships and were less than a point away from winning a third straight this fall. The two will compete in the individual state championships this upcoming March.
Girls Cross Country: Finished with three-way tie for the League 1 Championship - Top seven runners qualified for State Qualifying meet.
East Girls Tennis: Anya Konopka, Suffolk County League 1 Champion; Suffolk County Overall Champion; First round winner at the NYS Championships. Team qualified for the County Team Playoffs.
West Girls Tennis: Isabella Spilostros, Suffolk County League 1 runner up; Finished 4th overall at the Suffolk County Championships and qualified for the NYS tournament. Isabella also received the Section Xi sportsmanship award while at the State tournament. Helped lead the team to the Suffolk County team playoffs as well.
East Boys Soccer: Suffolk County Class AAA League 4 Champions; Reached the Final 4 round of the Class AAA Suffolk Championships. The Coaching staff along with the JV Coach Simonton was recognized as league coaches of the year!
East Girls Volleyball: Undefeated Suffolk County Class AA League 3 Champions; Class AA Suffolk County Championship Finalist.
East Girls Soccer: Suffolk County Class AAA Finalist. Second County Championship appearance in the last 3 seasons. Upset the number 2 and 3 seed on the playoff run to the County Finals.
The boys Cross Country and girls Swim and Dive teams are currently still competing.
