Checkmate at HSW makerspace!

Innovation meets competition at High School West! Student aides Ramon Lin, Yang Wang, and Tsunto Li dedicated nearly two months to designing and 3D-printing an impressive, oversized chess board and pieces in the High School West makerspace.

Now proudly displayed in the library, the custom set serves as the centerpiece of the school’s first-ever GrandMasters Open Chess Tournament. Throughout the month of March, students and staff alike are putting their strategic skills to the test as they compete for board supremacy.
