Champions of Long Island!

The Smithtown West varsity boys basketball team is Long Island champions for the first time ever!

The Bulls defeated South Side 65-50 in the “AA” Long Island championship game Wednesday night at Farmingdale State University.

“This game was the perfect testament to who we are. We played hard. We moved the ball and we were there for each other,” Head coach Mike Agostino said.

Senior Michael Cascione had 30 points in the win, which fell on his 18th birthday.

“It doesn’t get better than this. This is the best day of my life,” Cascione said.

The Bulls reached this title game by winning the Suffolk “AA” County championship this past Saturday against Half Hollow Hills West.

Next stop: The NY State regional game Friday night in Yorktown vs Rye High School of Section 1.
