Bravo to our SCSD musicians!
The Smithtown Central School District proudly extends a heartfelt bravo to 19 talented student musicians who participated in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York (MYO) this year and recently had the extraordinary opportunity to perform at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall.
Among the district’s standout performers, Smithtown High School West senior Bohdan Budash earned first place in the MYO Concerto and Vocal Competition, receiving a $500 award. As part of his achievement, Bohdan performed Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Si Può? from Pagliacci this spring at the Staller Center for the Arts.
Smithtown High School East student Clara Taube has also been selected to participate in the MYO Greece Performance Tour this July, where she will perform internationally alongside fellow young musicians.
In another exciting honor, Bohdan Budash, Cooper Drinkwater (Tackan Elementary School), Nate Drinkwater (Great Hollow Middle School), and Katherine Norris (Smithtown High School West) will perform The Star-Spangled Bannerwith MYO at Citi Field before the New York Mets game on June 28.
Congratulations to these accomplished student musicians for representing Smithtown with excellence both on local stages and at some of the most prestigious performance venues in the world.
