Board of Education honors winter sports successes!

The Smithtown Central School District Board of Education highlighted the achievements of several winter sports athletes and teams at Tuesday night’s Board of Education Meeting.

SCSD Director of Athletics, Jason Lambert, praised our teams' accomplishments, calling each team or athlete up to be recognized.
Congratulations to the following teams and athletes honored: 

High School West: Boys basketball/Suffolk County and Long Island Champions

High School East: Sophia Alvarez/Suffolk County Race Walk Champion and New York State Bronze Medal winner

SCSD Girls Bowling:  2nd place in Suffolk County, second consecutive undefeated season. Trishna Desai (All-County, All-Long Island, All-State)

High School East: Matthew McDermott/Suffolk County Wrestling Champion, New York State finalist, Nationals finalist

SCSD Boys Swim & Diving: Runner-up finishes at both the Long Island Challenge and the Suffolk County Championships. All-American status in the 200 Freestyle Relay and set the fastest public school time in New York State history. New York State Scholar-Athlete team, with Tyler Gallub earning Individual New York State Scholar-Athlete honors.
