All-Star Buddies helping out at St. James Elementary
What is an All-Star Buddy? It is a student leader who helps their peers practice social skills through the best way possible: play!
At St. James Elementary, there are many All-Star buddies who are helping younger students to learn and communicate in different ways. The All-Star Buddies from grades 2 through 4 meet once a week and act as role models, friends and cooperative teammates to younger students. They help build confidence, foster new friendships, and celebrate the different ways we all learn and grow.
“This club has always been something we wanted to start to bring general education and special education students together to promote kindness, awareness, and inclusion. By building real friendships across the differences students learn empathy, acceptance, and the importance of belonging. We have already seen such amazing things between all the participants involved from the hallways to school assemblies and the cafeteria!”—Mrs. McAlvin & Mrs. Murphy
