Accompsett Winter Olympics brings the heat!

Waving their flags high and dressed in vibrant team colors, students from Accompsett Elementary School brought energy and excitement to their Winter Olympics event Friday night at Smithtown High School West.

Hosted by physical education teacher Mr. Ed Shivokevich, the event featured a variety of fun, team-based challenges, including a hurdle race, basketball relay, and hula hoop contest. Students were grouped into multi-grade teams, encouraging collaboration, camaraderie, and school spirit across all levels.

Throughout the evening, participants showcased not only their athletic skills but also the power of teamwork and perseverance.

“Our teams are made up of multiple grade levels, so it’s kids working together. It’s one of my favorite nights,” said Principal Tim Hellmuth.
