AMS musicians heading to SCMEA All-County Jazz Festival!

Bravo to Accompsett Middle School for sending its first choral students to the SCMEA All-County Jazz Festival!
8th graders Michael Lagnese (Baritone), Anabella Nesbitt (Alto), and Liam Barrett (alternate) were all accepted to the annual festival, which selects only 32 vocalists from Suffolk County (ranging from 7th-12th grade) to perform music from the Great American Songbook. They (along with several HSW vocalists) will be conducted by jazz vocalist/composer Sofija Knezevic, whose credits include international music awards, as well as performing with greats such as Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
"I am so proud of them, and I am excited to watch ALL of the district's selected students grow into a new generation of jazz musicians who will hopefully carry their love of this music with them for years to come", says Shekinah Brosnan, chorus teacher at AMS.
