A thousand reasons to celebrate!

May 21, 2026

Mrs. Sue Porter, a sixth-grade teacher at Nesaquake Middle School, placed third in the Teachers Federal Credit Union Teacher Appreciation Week Contest and was awarded $1,000 in recognition of the incredible impact she has on her students and school community!

Mrs. Porter was nominated by Principal Dan McCabe, who praised the meaningful difference she makes in the lives of students each day. Recognized by TFCU as the “heartbeat of our school,” Mrs. Porter creates a classroom environment built on empathy, encouragement, and high expectations. Through her individualized support and growth-focused approach, she helps students build confidence, overcome challenges, and see mistakes as opportunities to learn and grow.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Porter also leads the inclusive Nesaquake Middle School Talent Show, bringing together students, families, and staff in a joyful celebration of community and creativity.

Congratulations, Mrs. Porter, on this well-deserved honor! We are so proud of you and grateful for the positive impact you make every day.
