2026 Torch Awards!

“The Torch Awards represent the very best of our profession." Those were the words of Paul Strader, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Assessment as he addressed the district’s 2026 Torch Award recipients Monday afternoon.
The Torch Award is presented to Smithtown teachers who have significantly contributed to the growth and professional development of their teacher colleagues.

The teachers gathered at St. James Elementary School for an awards presentation led by St. James Elementary teacher, Jennifer Goldman.

The 2026 Torch Award recipients are: Danielle Costa (Tackan Elementary), Kate Baker Dorney (High School West),  Jennifer Kapps Fleming (St. James Elementary), Erica Geldmacher (High School West), Danielle Giambo (Mt. Pleasant Elementary), Christine Kuletsky (High School East), Serena Spata (Mills Pond Elementary) and Michelle Stickle (Tackan Elementary)
