As part of an ELA unit of study, Mills Pond Elementary fifth grade students had an interactive experience reading the book Esperanza Rising.
Esperanza Rising is a heartwarming story of a young girl who learns the importance of love and sacrifice for family and friends.
In the book, young Esperanza gives her yarn doll to a girl on a train.
Inspired by that gesture, Mills Pond PTA member Leslie Eisen brought in lots of yarn for the students to make their own yarn dolls!
