Five SCSD High School sports teams were honored at the Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.
Athletic Director Jason Lambert addressed the crowd, lauding the successes of the teams honored, while coaches introduced their respective players.
The teams honored were the league champion HSE and HSW girls' volleyball teams, the league champion HSE and HSW combined cross country team, the Suffolk County champion HSE girls' varsity gymnastics team and the Smithtown/Hauppauge state champion swim team.
The swim team will also be honored in January.
They are the first female team in Smithtown athletics history to win a state championship.
