Smithtown CSD technology integration specialist, Tim Needles, is one of only four educators throughout the country to recently receive the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Making it Happen Award!
Tim has worked as an educator for over 25 years, and is an artist, performer, and author of the book STEAM Power from ISTE. ISTE is a nonprofit organization that helps educators use technology to revolutionize learning.
The Making it Happen Award honors educators who:
- Move forward and don't look back.
- See students as real people.
- Use technology in innovative ways to support learning goals.
- Teach through relationships - inspiring, encouraging and nurturing.
- Recognize that further change is necessary, but understand that it’s a process.
- Realize that teacher empowerment is key to transforming learning.
- Expect success.
- Motivate through awareness and access to information.
