Science Olympians

Congratulations to the Smithtown High School West & High School East Olympiad clubs for a great showing recently at the Science Olympiads at Hauppauge High School!

In a field of more than 50 teams from across the state, the High School East “A” team finished 16th overall, while the High School West “A” team placed 18th.

The following is a list of Smithtown HSE students who medaled:

6th place in Flight (Charles Bassani, Shriya Patel, “A” team)

7th place in Write It Do It (Jess Sucharski, Laina Magguilli, “B” team)

8th place in Green Generation (Gabe Finger, Hana Hashmi, “A” team)

9th place in Rocks and Minerals (Charlotte Spence, “C” team)

10th place in Chemistry Lab (Hana Hashmi, Alexis Savage, “A” team)

8th place in Anatomy and Physiology (Anna DiBiase, Anna Pajak)

6th place in Astronomy (Giavanna Valente)

2nd place in Detector Building (Heng Ye)

6th place in Disease Detectives (Heng Ye, Saaketh Manepalli)

10th place in Forestry (Sierra Needham, Sydnie Vogel)

10th place in Remote Sensing (Heng Ye, Joseph Davide)

3rd place in Rocks and Minerals (Sydnie Vogel, Sierra Needham)

5th place in Write it Do it (Aidan Matthew, Vanessa Matthew)

Founded in 1985 and incorporated in 1993, New York State Science Olympiad, Inc. ("NYSSO") is a non-profit organization which seeks to engage and challenge students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics ("STEM") through various levels of team-based, collaborative, and competitive tournaments throughout New York State.
