SCSD community comes out for Parent University

April 5, 2024

SCSD hosted another successful Parent University Thursday night at High School East. This year's workshop topic was mental health and wellness. Presentations were made related to internet safety/cyberbullying prevention, mental health and wellness, vaping and ADHD and anxiety.

Representatives from the the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, Horizons Counseling and Education, Northwell Health, and LICADD - Long Island Council of Alcoholism & Drug Dependence, were on hand to share their expertise.

Parent University is designed to inform, involve and empower families of students in Smithtown. Parent University offers parents and other family members a variety of meaningful workshops that will add to their existing skills and give them opportunities for continued growth and development.

Thank you to Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Dr. Simmons, and Kevin Colon, Administrator for Guidance and Related Student Services, for putting this important night for our community together!
