SCSD comes together for Unity Day

October 18, 2023

Students throughout the SCSD showed their "unity" for one another by wearing orange on Wednesday, Oct. 18, deemed, "Unity Day," a signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month.

While many students in every school wore orange, at Mt. Pleasant Elementary, the students and staff also wrote more than 500 kind messages to celebrate the day.

At Dogwood and Smithtown Elementary Schools, first graders joined together to sing songs to celebrate the day.

At the assembly led by Dogwood Elementary Principal Carpenter, each grade presented their pledge and they taught their peers different ways they can include others, show kindness, be an upstander and to continue to make Dogwood a place where all feel safe, valued and loved!

Mrs. Carpenter led students in the school pledge and encouraged students to put the words of their school pledge into action by choosing to be kind today and every day.
