The SCSD F.A.S.T. students deserve a round of applause!
Each day our students prepare for a variety of educational activities in and out of the classroom. Students utilize our PAES Lab, which gives them a classroom forum to explore over 300 jobs with five different career areas. This is to aid students in learning their strengths and work on figuring out their interests. Students participate in various school worksites but are not limited to the Bull Market, which is the school store at High School West; Smithtown Staplers where students complete office work for teachers (copying, laminating, stapling, etc.); Smithtown Sweet Shop where every Friday students bake, take orders, and deliver baked goods, coffee, and tea; and Cricut Corner where students get to show their creative side! They use the Cricut, heat press, and hat press to make products to sell.
F.A.S.T. students have also made uniforms for local businesses and over the past year they have made over 100 T-shirts and hoodies for restaurants.
Congratulations to all of our students and kudos to F.A.S.T. program coordinator Lisa Felice and Program Director for LEAP (Leading and educating young adults to prosper) Jillian Bianco.
