“We want to know what people are talking about and what people care about.”
Newsday Transportation reporter Alfonso Castillo, multimedia journalist Cecilia Dowd, along with Assistant managing editor Rob Levin and Communications Director Kim Grabina-Como hosted a journalism Q & A session on Thursday at High School East.
The panelists spoke to the Journalism classes (ELA Department) and Social Media class (business department) about their careers, how journalism is changing and took questions from the audience.
The Newsday staff even invited our students to Newsday’s new state of the art studio to potentially produce a show!
One piece of advice they gave: Have the confidence to recognize as journalists you are here to tell stories and don’t be afraid to speak to people.
