Mills Pond Elementary students recently completed the NYS PTA PARP event that fosters reading and this year, paying it forward!
Local author and Guide Dog trainer, Sarah Zagaja, with therapy dog, Fenway recently came to help kick off the two week reading event. She shared her heartwarming book, Raising Betty. This special story follows the journey of Betty as she prepared to become a guide dog.
The thematic concept of paying it forward with kindness was displayed in the books students read in addition to the donations they collected for the local Guide Dog Foundation in Smithtown. From blankets to biscuits and peanut butter, students showcased their kindness by helping the dogs in training!
This paws-itive event certainly showcased the compassion and care from our Mills Pond Elementary community!
