Smithtown High School East senior, Dylan Shen, was voted by his classmates to be the honor speaker for High School East at this year's graduation, which will be held on June 26.
Dylan was selected this morning during the school's annual Gold Cord breakfast.
High School East Principal Rob Rose lauded the accomplishments and dedication of the seniors and then made the announcement.
Dylan, a National Merit Scholarship finalist and Regeneron STS semifinalist, said he was proud of his impact on his graduating class.
“I’m very proud to know this is the way my peers see me. The fact they’ve chosen
me to represent this class is very good. I love it,” he said.
