A total of 71 medals and trophies were awarded to students from Smithtown East and West DECA this past weekend at the New York DECA State Competition in Rochester, New York. Smithtown East and West had a total of 80 students competing, with nine students qualifying to attend the International Career Conference in Orlando, FL where they will compete against all the top winners from across the globe.

More than 3,000 students from across the state competed this past weekend. The competitions included business topics such as: marketing, finance, public relations, accounting and entrepreneurship. Students competed in either tests and role plays or written manuals and presentations. The nine students who won trophies as well as the four Leadership Academy students are advancing to the International Competition in Orlando, Florida at the end of April.

Congratulations to all our students and a special shout out to the following East and West State finalists advancing to the international competition:

Charlotte Muratore, Julianna Nestor, Alison Tawil, Kate Braun, Zachary Anderson, Eric Milburn, Braden McCormick, Gavin VanRiel and Andrea DiLeo.

In addition, Smithtown East and West DECA also were awarded chapter recognition for the following areas:
