SOPHOMORE SCIENCE HONORS
Emily Lam and Aidan Quinn, sophomores in the Think Discovery Science Research Program at High School East, were awarded Honors (3rd place) recently at the New York State Science Congress state competition in Syracuse.
Competing against university level bioengineering projects Emily and Aidan wowed the judges with their in-house project mentored by Ms. Zeitlin, coordinator of the THINK Discovery Science Research Program at East.

The pair investigated how musicianship correlates to short-term memory.
According to Zeitlin, "They found a statistically significant correlation of musicianship to short-term memory in high school students. This has important implications for districts where funding for the arts, especially music, is in peril. This team was one of the best collaborating partners I have ever taught, and their commitment and perseverance in the analysis and presentation of their findings was outstanding!”
