HS East Science Enthusiasts Chat with Renowned Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson

High School East students Aman Mistry, Zack Finger, Matt Neto, James Funaro and Jonathan Chung spoke with renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson following a panel discussion they attended at Stony Brook University.

The panel consisted of Tyson, the director of the Hayden Planetarium, as well as former Nobel Prize in Physics winner David Gross, RPI president Shirley Ann Jackson, and the director of the Center for Theoretical Physics at Brown University, S. James Gates Jr.

Physicist Clifford Johnson moderated the session in conjuction with the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics and Stony Brook University.

The panel, entitled "Celebrating Science in a Fractured Society," discussed how to communicate science, how to get young people excited and interested in the subject, and how to include a diverse group of individuals.
