Jim Brannigan’s students at High School West are nearing completion of their two-year AP English capstone course, which culminates with a presentation next week.
The students have been mapping their progress on a bulletin board in the library as a visual representation of their research process.
As juniors, the group engaged in group research projects. This year, as seniors, they all undertook their own research study.
The points mapped on the bulletin board, under the title “Research Road,” include choosing your topic, gathering resources, drafting an inquiry proposal, and ultimately delivering the presentation and oral defense — which occurs next week.
The course is multidisciplinary, so the topics about to be presented included GMOs in school lunches, technology in sports management, dance therapy, and social media and fashion.
Thirty-five students are enrolled across three sections.
