Carole Walsh’s third grade students at Smithtown Elementary solved a handful of fossil mysteries with the aid of technology on Thursday.
Michelle Manning, a technology integration specialist with the District, visited the students for the lesson about fossils.
The students made guesses about the type of fossil based on the characteristics they observed in the “mystery fossil” lesson.
Manning used Kami software to allow the students to each observe and interact on their Chromebook with the different fossils.
Manning has been partnering with Project Lead the Way instructor Kelly Bigliani to collaborate on third and fourth grade lessons. The duo just won a BOCES model schools technology award for one of their recent projects.
