On 3/14, fifth grade students at St. James Elementary learned about the power of 3.14.
Pi Day on Monday included the students measuring the circumference of circular objects found in their classrooms, including garbage cans, paper plates, a paper towel roll and a basketball rim.
The students then measured the diameter.
And with a quick division of circumference by diameter, they came up with a constant of 3.14, no matter what circular object they measured.
Or, more precisely, 3.14159265359.
Of course, Pi Day also included 20 pizza pies being delivered to the school to celebrate.
