Students in Sean Tomasello’s computer integrated manufacturing class at High School West utilized technology to design and manufacture a container base and lid on Monday.

The students each received a block of wood. Using Inventor or Fusion computer software, they then designed a unique container and generated a three-dimension model on the screen. The specifications then were inputted into an automated ShopBot desktop device, which cut the block of wood to the details designed by the students.

The project applied skills and knowledge related to the engineering design process, CAD modeling and milling.
