Dogwood Elementary students shared an important safety message through their artwork.

Students recently participated in an internet safety poster contest.

Some of the messages the students conveyed with their artwork included:

• Avoiding placing personal information where it can be found online.

• Not speaking with strangers online.

• Being respectful and not a cyberbully.

• Avoiding phishing and other scams, where people try to get you to click unsecure links.

The poster contest was sponsored by Dogwood librarian Ellie Eichenlaub. Winners were featured on the school’s news broadcast, and their posters were prominently displayed in the school.

Suffolk County Police Department officer Tom DiLena visited Dogwood Elementary in February to similarly discuss internet safety with students.
