Jolene Cao, an eighth grader at Nesaquake Middle School, has been selected for two prestigious summer music programs. Jolene, who plays the harp outside of school and the violin in school, was accepted as a harpist in the School of Orchestral Studies in the highly competitive New York State Summer School of the Arts program funded by the New York State Education Department. She also got accepted into the highly selective New York University summer harp intensive program in the New York University Steinhardt School. Cao plays in the school’s orchestra and received a perfect score on her level 6 NYSSMA solo, using that audition to get into the prestigious program.
