Four eighth graders from Accompsett Middle School recently took home awards in Le Grand Concours, a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students were evaluated for their written, oral and listening comprehension skills in French. Nearly 30,000 students in 50 states competed in the 2021 event.

“This exam is administered throughout the country, and it is something to be extremely proud of to have four students who were recognized nationally for their achievements,” said Accompsett Middle School French teacher Katherine Neumair.

The district congratulates the following award-winning students: Nathan Barbou – 95th national percentile (gold medal winner); Jia Macalinao – 55th national percentile (honorable mention); Caroline Nuzzo – 50th national percentile (honorable mention); and Corina Wong – 55th national percentile (honorable mention).
