The library at High School East serves as more than just a place to check out books. Students are conducting top-level research, finding a quiet place to study or gain valuable insight from library media specialist Jean Marie Kliphuis.
In the atrium portion of the library, students have an opportunity to have discussions and interact. The main area of the library is available for use throughout the day. Ms. Kliphuis said she tried to set the library up similar to a college library, where different sections serve different purposes.
For example, on Jan. 8, the main lab was filled with students in the Introduction to Psychology classes, who were working on their class project. The project has multiple components and the library assisted the students in finding the best resources.
On the other side of the library, the AP Capstone Research students were finalizing their project presentations. Their teacher and Ms. Kliphuis were circulating to assist them with this next phase of their research.
