Welcome to the Smithtown Central School District Wellness Committee!

Please join us for our meetings, which are open to the Smithtown Community.

2018 Wellness Committee Meetings:  5:00 pm on March 14, April 18, and May 16 @ 26 New York Avenue Room 140.

 

Vision

The Wellness Committee of Smithtown Central School District believes that all students can:

  • Develop the skills necessary to make lifelong healthy choices.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the importance of good decision making in relation to healthy choices.
  • Display a positive attitude toward the health and wellbeing of every individual.
  • Develop an appreciation of the lifelong benefits of eating healthy foods and participating in daily physical exercise.
  • Lead fuller, healthier, and more productive lives through sound nutritional and physical decision making. (draft language)
  • Develop an understanding of and skills to create balance in life.

Mission Statement 

The mission of the Smithtown Wellness Committee is to promote and support initiatives that encourage the development of lifelong healthy lifestyle habits. The district will:

  • Raise awareness about the impact of having a healthy mind and body.
  • Encourage habits of all aspects of wellness.
  • Empower individuals to make informed decisions about their social, emotional, and physical health.
  • Empower individuals to model and promote wellness.
  • Provide the resources to meet wellness goals.
  • Give students the knowledge and ability necessary to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Give students the understanding and skills necessary to manage their personal and community resources.
